This photo project tells the story of homeless people from Mykolaiv who, despite their own difficulties and harsh fate, have become an integral part of resistance, showing self-sacrifice and mutual assistance during the incredible trials of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Their self-organization, assistance in setting up anti-tank hedgehogs throughout the city, searching for and collecting tires, glass bottles for Molotov cocktails, and preparing for street battles in the city of Mykolaiv are highlighted. In the works, one can keenly feel the harsh reality of their existence, but also the indomitable spirit of community that arises even in the toughest times of our society. Each fragment is like a puzzle piece, a part of the story that reproduces the integral picture of their lives and contribution to the country’s struggle for freedom. “Found Puzzle” is not only an artistic project but also a documentary witness to the greatness of the human heart in times of war.
The project was created under a sub-grant program from MYPH within the framework of the (re)connection UA 2023/24 program, implemented by the Museum of Modern Art and the Ukrainian Emergency Art Fund (UEAF) in partnership with UNESCO and funded through the UNESCO Emergency Fund for Heritage.
